Pouilly-Fuissé is the best know appellation (originating in 1936) in the Mâconnais region – the southernmost and warmest part of Burgundy, producing its richest and most opulent wines.
The Denuziller family have around 15 hectares in Solutré-Pouilly, very close to the famous rock of Solutré. The domaine originated in 1919 and is now run by Gilles and Joël who make wine from 3 different appellations: Pouilly-Fuissé, St-Véran, and Mâcon-Solutré. Le Clos is one of the best vineyards within Fuissé.
Some Fuissé can be too oaky and too opulent. This strikes the right balance of richness and freshness.
