Churchill’s was founded by John Graham in 1981, and is the first British Port Wine company to be established in 50 years. The company is named after his wife, Caroline Churchill.
A fine 10 Year Old Tawny Port that has the complexity of age, whilst still retaining some of the freshness and acidity of youth.
The fruit for Churchill’s 10 Year Old Tawny Port come from the old vineyards on their Estates located in the Cima Corgo sub-region of the Douro Wine region. It is a blend of several Douro varieties including Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Franca and Tinta Francisca.
There is no need to decant the Port, and once opened it is fine for a month or so.
A rich brick red colour with flashes of amber. The nose is complex with expressive notes of dry fruits combined with hints of orange peel. The palate is full showing rich toffee flavours and clean, balancing freshness with a long and persistent finish.
Best served lightly chilled (10 -12 ºC), Chuchill’s 10 Year Old Tawny combines very well with soft cheeses like Brie and Camembert and fruit cake.
