Founded in 1997, Fertuna is located in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, an area with great winemaking potential fast becoming known for its high-quality wines. Guiseppe Maregalli and the Marchese Nicolò Incisa della Rochetta of Sassicaia created a joint venture to produce wines which represent exceptional value for money given their quality.
The Droppello was born from the desire of the Marquis Incisa to create, in partnership with his friend Giuseppe Meregalli, a white wine accessible to the public. The uniqueness of this wine is based on Sangiovese (the typical Tuscan red grape variety) vinified as a white wine.
The grapes are taken from the Gavorrano region of Maremma, in Tuscany, where the soils are clay and stony of medium mixture. The vineyards are cordon spur trained and the vines average 10 years in age. The climate in the area of Italy is particularly hot and dry in summer but much more temperate during the winter season.
Straw-Yellow with light green reflections. An intense and delicate bouquet, with soft notes of herbs and white fruits. On the palate the wine is fresh, dry and mineral, with a pleasant delicacy and a good persistence with an elegant acidity.
Great with fish appetisers and fish in general. Ideal for first courses, white meats and vegetables. Perfect for the everyday light meals.
