The tiny area of Coteaux de l’Aubance is one of the Loire’s best kept secrets, and produces fresh wines with more in common with Savennières than the neighbouring Coteaux du Layon. Château d’Avrille dates from the 16th and 17th centuries, and this parcel of wines from the legendary 1989 vintage comes directly from the castle’s own cellars. Each bottle will be individually reconditioned before being bottled and shipped, so their quality can be guaranteed.
Made from Chenin Blanc, this wonderful old wine has a golden yellow colour, with aromas of nuts, apricots and honey coming out. The palate is more honey, with citrus and mineral flavours coming through. Perfect with lighter cake desserts or lemon tarts, it will also go wonderfully with blue cheese and Foie Gras.
