When a co-operative (such as the Cave Saint-Verny) dominates a regions production, it is essential that the overall quality is of the highest possible standard in order to help create a reputation for the appellation as a whole. The Cave Saint Verny might produce modest wines, but it’s an excellent ambassador, producing excellent wines for their intended price point. The fact that a total of 60% of the wineries production is sold within the region demonstrates how lost and forgotten the wines of the Auvergne are.
Lovely salmon-pink rose hue, produced from 100% pinot noir, it is fresh, full of juicy strawberries and crushed cherries. Well balanced with good depth this wine drinks really well.
