When a co-operative (such as the Cave Saint-Verny) dominates a regions production, it is essential that the overall quality is of the highest possible standard in order to help create a reputation for the appellation as a whole. The Cave Saint Verny might produce modest wines, but it’s an excellent ambassador, producing excellent wines for their intended price point. The fact that a total of 60% of the wineries production is sold within the region demonstrates how lost and forgotten the wines of the Auvergne are.
Fresh and aromatic with sappy green notes, hints of herbs and ripe cherry fruit on the nose. The palate is elegant and textured with smooth, sappy red cherry fruit. Beautifully expressive and elegant. A pure, lighter-style red wine with no harsh edges. So drinkable.
